Big Ring MTB Memorial Weekend Ride

Big ring MTB Crew Adventures, Private Mountain tour guide, Mountain bike tour guide
Keller Peak Adventure Group Ride
What a fantastic ride this morning. Our tour group showed up right on time.
Meet Binh, Cynthia, Craig, Doug & Kurt...We had a great time this morning for the "Virgin Run" at Keller Peak/Exploration Trail.
Although this was there first time up to Keller Peak, they where all season riders and in great shape for the pavement climb up. After some slicing & dicing up the road, we where all licking our chops to hit the single track.
The Group only had till noon to get back up to Big Bear to meet other friends for their second ride of the day (Hardcore). I had no problem with that because Chase and I did a "Recon" on Friday.

First Snow Crossing!
Top 1/4 Mile of Exploration Trail we saw a few snow crossings. This should be the last time we will see snow this year. I know I'm kinda crazy but I really don't mind the snow crossing. Its builds character...HAHA! The Big Ring Way! .
Most of our rides take place here at Keller Peak. It is one of the most scenic places in the San Beranrdino mountain available to Hikers & Bikers. Always now that we always share the trails.

Lookout Point - Exploration Trails
Lookout Point is one of our favorite spot on the trail. Your on top of the world over looking the San Bernardino valley. This is a great spot to stop for a snack break, but please remember to pack your trash out! The Big Ring Way! .

Kurt Fought the Rock, And the Rock Won!
Kurt Fought the Rock, And the Rock Won! - I'm sure glad this worked out but Kurt slammed this rock. We all got a good laugh out this, Kurt included...Well! But we still had 2 plus miles to go on the trail. Kurt is a hardcore rider and wouldn't have it any less....Since no one threw up this time out, Kurt won the "Free Big Ring Shirt"

Big Ring MTB Crew "Recon Mission" at Rim Nordic Race Course

Wednesday Morning Big Ring MTB Crew Ride. After Monday's ride at Keller Peak,  a buddy ask us to do a recon to see how the course was. I am  very happy to report that it is in great shape after a hard winter. No more than a few down trees on the second half of the climb. Once on the top fire road there was no sign of snow...My shoes where still wet from the snow on Exploration Trail but the weather was already 58 degrees so my feet where fine.

I took the old course down through the burn area. The lower switch backs where in great shape. There are a few water crossing that are pretty deep so make sure to wheelie the front over.

This was the only major section where the trail was obstructed. It was a good area to get off for a much needed break anyway.

I forgot how much I really like this place. I can't wait to go back. Rim Nordic has so much to offer and is a great challenge for all levels of riding.

I usually hit the trail around 9am, so if you want to join us, drop us a message at Big Ring MTB Crew Rides.

Our riding days very during the week so I will be posting on Facebook the day before, when and where. We will alternate ride here and Keller Peak.

See you on the trails!

Exploration Trail/Keller Peak - Running Springs, CA

Monday Morning Big Ring MTB Crew Ride....
Well I thought it was time to hit Exploration Trail! But I can tell you to wait! about about 2 weeks. Last year about this time there was only a few 25yrds spots to cross. But Dam! There were so many snow crossing 2.5 miles down.  While I was riding on the road up, I looked over to see the trail but couldn't really see much of it. After about the 6 snow drift, I knew i was in for it. My feet did't start to feel cold for about the first mile and I thought all there couldn't be much more snow! But I was wrong...HAHA!

The Mutts. where having a blast - They kept looking at me: Hey Dad More Snow!!! Since there weather had dropped to about 40 degress they didn't hit all the water holes on the climb. They hit it hard with the snow. Rolling around like crazy...

Now where about 2 miles into the trail and my feet are really starting to get cold! There is so much snow on the ground you really can't find where the trail leads to on the other side. I missed one of the up hill climbs on a sharp left and went right HA! So I'm climbing to the top of a hill to look where I went wrong...Good thing it was to far back to the left.

This was one of the last osuper big snow crossing. Good thing my effin feet are frozen now...The Mutts where having them of there lives and to make matters worse they would head back to me and nudge me in the leg, like as if to say "Whats the hold up".

Had to take a break to knock off the snow from the bike and my feet...

Finally the last if the snow drifts and now that my feet are frozen, Time to hit the trail...

This is one of my favorite spots on the upper half of the trail. Bones taking a deserved break.
Turbo doing the same. The view today of the valley is incredible. Low clouds over the San Bernardino Valley, Looks like you could walk on it...

This is a familiar spot!!

Finally at the last water crossing and Turbo
is cooling down... The water is freezing and their just splashing around...

Bones having spalsh too. Keller peak road to the top of Exploration Trails is a little over 4 miles with and elevation climb of 800ft. The single track trail down is 5.5 miles.

Bones is a tired little girl. Believe or not she is faster than Turbo on the downhills...You gotta love it!

All in all it was a great ride, but I'm not gonna hit the trail for a couple of weeks. So till then...I will post the video in a bit...Fun Stuff!

See you on the trails!

Testing "The Ring" 3/4 Sleeve Big Ring Jersey

Thanks for all the positive response on our new Big Ring MTB Crew Jersey's.

Took a lunch ride today at the at the ranger station loop to do some more test rides with the Jersey's.

The overall feel of the 3/4 sleeve and the free bottom (no elastic) is just like wearing a t-shirt - super comfortable. The polyester wicker material did a fantastic job with keeping the sweat from my body and V-Neck design does a great job allowing air flow.

The size I'm wearing is a large which is a generous cut. No binding at all.

I hope I have answered all your question, but please keep them coming.

We will have the booth set up at Calif Gold State Kenda Mountain Bike race - May15-16 Fontana, CA - (XC, DH, SD, 4X). So stop by to check them out.  We have plenty of FREE key fobs to hand out!!!

See you on the trails!

New 3/4 Sleeve Jersey's 5/5/10

Well after a long trip to China and timeless our of researching companies to make sure the sizing is correct. We are ready to start production of our new line of Jersey's. Today was a great day to go out to see how the were gonna breath.

We chose the cool-max mid-weight mess material to archive the best possible color but still be able to breath.

I am very pleased with the design of freeride style jersey.
1. Great airflow with the mid-weight mesh ventilation.
2. The mid weight mesh held the sweat away from your body. (It was really hot at the end of the ride - No Chills)
3. The 3/4 sleeve catches more air flow at the angle of your arm closer to your elbow.

Now with that said. We are re-tooling the color layouts.

1. Changing the upper arms to match rather than 2 different. and will be playing around with the skull placement.
2. Adding a right side blind pocket with a zipper enclosure.

New arrivals should be here mid this month. I will be posting pic's as soon as they arrive. Till then see you on the trails or at the races.

The weather is great up here, so we will be starting our group rides back on Saturday mornings. So come up and breath some good air...

Thanks Again for your continued support.

Well, we hit the trail yesterday a little late. Went out to the staging area and did Bobbit's Death Climb. Started at the single track off 189 at the road crossing and rode up to the staging area the around the fire road to climb Bobbit's. About 3/4 up the face the Mutts started to get beat looking for shade. I got out their water bowl and the drank a more then usual. We rested a bit and we back on our way. Turbo leading the pack, Bones in Second with me bringing up the rear.

On the way back we droppped down to the lower trail the runs along 189. There was this hugh mud hole. Both Turbo & Bones dove in having a great time. Wished I would started this way first! Turbo likes to get his body soaked before he starts the trail.

So please make sure when you take your Mutts out on rides, pick trails that have plenty of water crossing at the start and the finish of your rides.

Thanks, Dewey AKA Big Ring Dew Big Ring MTB Mutts

Silverwood Lake Loop

Yesterday We just had to get a ride in. It had snowed the night before in Lake Arrowhead and Chase and I were just tired of shoveling. So we took the MTB Mutts out for a ride at the lake. Turbo is the white Queensland and Bones is the brindle Bugg (Boston and Pugg Mix) Haha.

We rode around the west side of the lake to one of the boating picnic area's for the mutts to take a dip.
It was really a great day for all of us. Can't wait to get back there again before the rain. The Mutts did really good on the trail had to be a 7 miles round trip and Bones really never got tired till the end. Will post more picture on the website: Big Ring MTB Cew Till then we will see you on trails - Thanks
